Polypropylene air chamber panels – Quality and service

Aircell® air chamber panels made of polypropylene – light, stable, sustainable

Aircell® air chamber panels from VACU-form are innovative lightweight solutions made of polypropylene. Thanks to the patented 3D thermoforming process, they combine minimum weight with maximum stability – up to 70% lighter than comparable solid materials with the same load-bearing capacity.

What makes Aircell® air chamber panels special?

Our Aircell® panels consist of three precisely coordinated polypropylene film layers. Our patented process gives the middle layer a unique 3D honeycomb structure that ensures exceptional stability with minimal weight.

Core properties at a glance

  • Ultralight: basis weights from 1,000 to 5,000 g/m² depending on type
  • Stable: material thicknesses from 3 to 16 mm available
  • 100% recyclable: Made from pure PP without plasticizers
  • Weather resistant: Moisture and corrosion resistant
  • Food-safe: Suitable for direct food contact
  • Versatile: Available in different colors, with print finish or anti-slip coating

Why Aircell® instead of conventional materials?

Weight saving

Aircell® panels are up to 70% lighter than comparable solid plastic panels or wood-based materials. This reduces transportation costs and CO₂ emissions.

Cost efficiency

Lower material weight means lower raw material and transportation costs. Reusability significantly reduces the cost per use compared to disposable packaging.

Sustainability

As a pure PP product, Aircell® sheets are fully recyclable. Production waste is recycled directly. Unlike PVC, they do not contain any environmentally harmful plasticizers.

Processing

Aircell® panels can be cut, drilled, milled and thermoformed using standard tools. Joints are possible by gluing, welding or mechanical fastening.

Individual finishing options

We customize Aircell® panels to your specific requirements:

  • Color design: Various standard colors or individual RAL tones
  • Printing: digital printing, screen printing or film lamination
  • Surface finish: anti-slip coating (TPE), textile, foam or fleece lamination
  • Special formats: Customized blanks and deep-drawn parts
  • ESD version: For electrostatically sensitive areas

Frequently asked questions about Aircell® air chamber panels

Are Aircell® panels really food-safe?

Yes, Aircell® sheets made of pure polypropylene comply with EU Regulation No. 10/2011 for food contact materials. They are tasteless and odorless.

How temperature-resistant are the panels?

Aircell® sheets can be used in the range from -20°C to +100°C. At low temperatures, the flexibility may decrease, but the structure remains intact.

Can the panels be used outdoors?

Yes, Aircell® sheets are generally weather-resistant. For permanent outdoor applications, we recommend UV-stabilized versions to prevent premature embrittlement.

How are Aircell® panels disposed of?

As a pure PP material, Aircell® sheets can be recycled via the collection of recyclable materials. Larger quantities are accepted by specialized recycling companies. The material is thermally recyclable and can be processed into recyclate.

What standard formats are available?

Our standard panel formats are 1000 x 2000 mm and 1,250 x 3050 mm. We realize customer-specific cuts from batch size 1.

Container rings – the perfect addition

We manufacture customized container rings for pallet and lid systems to match the Aircell® panels. Available in material thicknesses from 5 to 15 mm with:

  • Up to 3 loading flaps per ring for ergonomic loading and unloading
  • Various closure techniques
  • Installation options for handles, H-profiles and compartments
  • Individual installations according to customer requirements
